Our Health Promise

Adopt A Pet encourages sellers to provide healthy puppies and kittens that have received age appropriate care before going to their new homes. Health guarantees may vary by seller, so buyers should review each listing and request written details before completing a purchase.

What Buyers Should Receive

Before bringing a puppy or kitten home, buyers should ask the seller for available health records, which may include:

Vaccination history
Deworming records
Veterinary exam notes
Microchip details, if available
Breed registration papers, if offered
Feeding instructions
Any known medical history

Initial Veterinary Exam

Buyers should schedule a wellness exam with a licensed veterinarian shortly after the puppy or kitten arrives home. A prompt exam helps confirm health, answer care questions, and create a vaccination and wellness plan. Many seller health guarantees require a vet exam within a set number of days. Buyers should check the exact time period in the seller’s written guarantee.

What a Health Guarantee May Cover

Depending on the seller, a health guarantee may cover certain illnesses, congenital conditions, or serious health concerns found shortly after purchase. Coverage may depend on veterinary documentation, timing of the exam, proper care by the buyer, and the terms provided by the seller.

What May Not Be Covered

Health guarantees often do not cover conditions caused by stress, poor diet after arrival, injury, lack of veterinary care, parasites common in young pets, or exposure to other animals after pickup or delivery. Because each seller sets their own terms, buyers should request the guarantee in writing and keep copies of all records, messages, receipts, and veterinary reports.
